The story began in 1921, when Oreste Agnini and Ralph Singer, two talented émigrés from Italy, founded Agnini & Singer, the first jewelry company in Chicago. Mr. Agnini brought his gift for design, and Mr. Singer, his mastery of fine jewelry manufacturing. Together, they forged a partnership that married creativity and craftsmanship, a perfect match that would shape the future of American jewelry.

In its earliest years, the firm created elegant hair combs and shoe buckles, soon expanding into an array of fashion jewelry and later, beautifully detailed fraternal designs. Their imagination and skill earned them remarkable commissions. The company crafted tiaras for the Mardi Gras queens of New Orleans and produced special commemorative jewelry for the 1939 World’s Fair, each piece an emblem of its era’s glamour and optimism.

By the 1940s, Agnini & Singer introduced the hallmark ORA Creations™ line, a name that would soon become synonymous with exquisite design and impeccable craftsmanship. As the golden age of costume jewelry blossomed through the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, ORA Creations pieces graced the pages of Vogue and other leading fashion magazines, defining an era of accessible elegance.

In 1984, the company entered a new chapter under the ownership of the Stanford Smith family of Kenilworth, Illinois. While times have changed, the commitment to craftsmanship has not. Today, the Ralph Singer Company continues to produce both fashion and fraternal jewelry, casting many of our designs from the original 1921 molds and using only the finest materials.
